Welcome back to The Room3 Report: An informal newsletter keeping you up to date on all upcoming performances, music releases, merch drops, and general happenings in the world of Room3.

Tonight, we're opening for one of THE foundational fusion bands, The Headhunters, at one of our favorite spots to play in this city, Dakota. How lucky are we!? We'll do a thirty minute set at 7pm, and they'll follow. Not exactly sure what repertoire they're playing nowadays, but I'd guess it's a combo of some of their classics and newer material. Attaching a live performance above of "God Made Me Funky," recorded in 1975, to get you all in the mood. These are some funky cats, man, pheewwwww. Get yourself a ticket if you haven't yet! Gonna be one hell of a show.

We're donating all of our merch proceeds from this evening to Community Kitchen Minneapolis. They're doing some great work gathering food donations, coordinating grocery drop offs, and offering rent assistance to our neighbors that are stuck at home right now. If you're at the show, make sure you get a Room3 shirt or "Bill's Garden" CD to support a good cause. It feels weird to promote shows right now, of course, but this is certainly not the moment to stop performing or stop showing up for our local venues and artists. We need the cathartic release live music provides now more than ever, and we need community now more than ever.

Love you all! Stay safe out there. Excited to see some familiar faces tonight at Dakota.

WHAT Y'ALL KNOW ABOUT THIS??

One member of the group hand-selects one album and one live concert to highlight, offering insight into its significance (personal or otherwise). All of the artists highlighted in this segment have at least one thing in common: They are all innovators. These giants set the standard for what’s possible and what's hip, and they inspired us to keep reaching. We hope they do the same for you!

ALBUM OF THE WEEK: "LISTEN IN!" - Wormdove

LIVE CONCERT OF THE WEEK: "Mike Green: Off the Record (Live on Radio K)" 12/1/23

We're putting on the homies today.

Album of the week is Beck's most recent release under "Wormdove." Wormdove is Beck’s side project he retreats to after his out of the box ideas are sometimes rejected in Room3. It’s all about his journey into his own spirituality and quest for harmony between the flesh and the spirit. He made this instrumental album this past year while traveling the country in his van. Give it a listen!

Live concert of the week is a live in-studio performance by Mike Green, featuring RAWTWHYLAH on drums. There is some major shreddage in there and a looooot of notes (all very cool, well-timed ones). On top of being a fantastic support player in many bands, Mike is also a fantastic composer and frontman. See for yourself!
